6 km Walk through the Rushworth Ironbark Forest

The Maps to Apps Community Group is organising its 4th annual walk through the Rushworth Forest on Sunday 28th August this year.

The committee has been busy defining a new and interesting route for this year incorporating a diverse range of bush habitats and historic sites.

The 6km Wildflower Hunt walk loop this year will be in the surrounding Ironbark forest of Whroo which is 8kms south of Rushworth. In addition to a vast array of wildflowers on dispaly, the walk will include historic sites in and around the Historic Reserve at Whroo such as the famous Balaclava Gold Mine and other remnants of the once thriving township there. The starting and finishing point for the walk will be the Balaclava Gold Mine carpark.

The event will be run on Sunday the 26th of August between 10am and 1pm. On the day maps with the route and points of interest will be available for a gold coin donation. The route will take 2-3 hours to complete.
